Lion Club Websites
Today, many people let their fingers do the walking across a keyboard to find what they want. It has been estimated that one out of every three homes have a computer and must of them are connected to the Internet. Approximately 50% of all Americans have access to the internet either at home or at work.
Why does your club need to be on the Internet?
Gives your club a global presence (it is a permanent presence, not just a “blurb” |
Recruit new members |
Communicate directly with your members who have Internet access |
Store important information that all members need access to (Constitution and By-Laws, Committee membership, etc |
Many more reasons |
How does your club establish a web presence?
Find someone in your club who access to the Internet and is willing to do the work
Decide who will host (provides the space for your web files) your site
Build your web pages
Copy the pages to your host
There are lots of individuals and companies that would build your web pages for a price. However, there is a volunteer Lion Club out of Turkey who will assist your club in developing a web site and who will also host it for FREE. It is called LionWap, which is part of LionNet.
LionWap is a simple to use website Just go to (http://www.lionwap.org) and select New User, and the site will walk you through the process.
However, there could be one drawback. LionWap
will only allow your club to create one page.
This is OK, if all you want is a web presence.
However, if you want more, you will to find someone else to develop and
host your site.
LionWap will give your club a web presence and that will be a GREAT start. You can always upgrade later.
